I am a full time home inspector and a licensed General Contractor. Ca. License #634971. In my spare time I restore older homes. This experience has been invaluable to me as a home inspector. In 1995 I became a certified home inspector with the nationwide, American Institute of Inspectors. This certification was bestowed after completing field and classroom training and passing a series of tests. I continue to keep updated on the most current information relevant to home inspecting through my association and by on-line contacts with other home inspectors throughout the United States. In 1999 I elected to follow the strict Standard of Practice of ASHI, American Society of Home Inspectors. This organization is the most recognized association in the United States, which I am a member of. This is my fifth year of service in the Shasta and Tehama Counties. During this time I have inspected over 1500 homes. Some were brand new and some as old as 125 years. I am aware of the importance of reporting all information about the house to the buyer in a truthful and straight forward manner. My reputation and business couldn't survive without honesty and by following a code of ethics. Because I have built and inspected many houses, I know what the systems in a house should look like. If conditions appear unusual a red flag is raised in my mind and I can give the buyer this information. Standards for building houses have changed over the years and homeowners tend to make their own version of improvements as well. I just want the buyer to be aware of any indications that the homes components may not serve them as well as they are hoping. I always encourage the home buyer to meet with me after the home inspection so that I can go over my findings and discuss any concerns they might have. If this isn't possible, we can always talk by phone. A home inspection is a valuable tool in the purchase of a new home. It can definitely save much heartache later on. When buying a home, be sure to get a home inspection by a qualified professional. I will always have only your interest in mind when reporting the condition of the home to you. Respectfully Ken Jones
